SMARTShot - New technology

The "SMART" technology used in SMARTShot products enables release profiles to be tailored to meet particular requirements. It involves encapsulation of the active ingredient in a lactide/glycolide polymer.

SMARTShot B12 is the first veterinary product available anywhere in the world that incorporates this encapsulation technology.

SMARTShot B12 offers an improved dosage form through its sustained action and convenience of administration. The release of vitamin B12 from the injection site is controlled to give sustained supplementation.

The vitamin B12 is contained within microspheres of the polymer and the release is controlled by erosion of the polymer and diffusion of the vitamin B12 through the pores of the polymer.

Larger vitamin B12 particles and those particles centrally contained within the larger microspheres are more slowly released. This entrapment, or encapsulation, of the vitamin B12 enables the activity of SMARTShot B12 to be extended over many months.

SMARTShot B12
is a product of New Zealand research, development and manufacture.

Just one SMARTShot ...

Gives long term protection and peace of mind from knowing that SMARTShot B12 goes on working for you!

No more hassles of mustering for repeat treatments at least every four to six weeks, as required with other vitamin B12 injections.

SMARTShot B12 is versatile

Used in ewes pre-partum it will not only improve the vitamin B12 status of the ewe but also that of the foetus and newborn lambs for at least one month after birth.

SMARTShot B12
can also be used at docking time in lambs from three weeks of age, unlike cobalt bullets which cannot be used until the animal is at least eight weeks old.
